چکیده
Abstract We develop a theoretical framework and presents corresponding empirical analysis of the Food Drug Administration’s irrigation water quality regulatory standard under Safety Modernization Act using lettuce as case study. stochastic price endogenous partial equilibrium model with recourse to examine standard’s efficacy various scenarios foodborne illness severity, implementation, demand response outbreaks, costs. The stringency regulation is evaluated producer requirements implications for economic surplus. baseline results show that in market, proposed microbial (FSMA) not cost effective relative existing Leafy-Greens Marketing Agreements relying on treatment mitigation contamination. However, FSMA can be if sufficiently expensive.

Successes and shortcomings of the Food and Drug Modernization Act.
A s is true for many pediatric illnesses, the treatment of hypertension in childhood has been hampered by a paucity of data regarding antihypertensive drug pharmacokinetics and efficacy in children. Although nearly all antihypertensive agents have been used to treat hypertensive children, until recently only a few of these agents had been systematically studied in children, and few drug manufac...
متن کاملPharmacy utilization and the Medicare Modernization Act.
To control expenditures and use medications appropriately, the Medicare drug coverage program has established pharmacy utilization management (PUM) measures. This article assesses the effects of these strategies on the care of seniors. The literature suggests that although caps on drug benefits lower pharmaceutical costs, they may also increase the use of other health care services and hurt hea...

Barley is affected by Fusarium head blight. The mycotoxins produced by F. graminearum affect the grain safety, malting and beer quality. Barley can be irradiated with electron beam radiation to reduce the fungal contamination, but there may be some Fusarium strains which can survive, grow and produce mycotoxins as irradiated barley is malted. Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis was...
متن کاملFood Safety, Toxicology and Utilization of Mycotoxin-contaminated Grain
Cereal crop plants are colonized by many fungal species such as Aspergillus ochraceus and Penicillium verrucosum, which produce ochratoxins, and Fusarium graminearum, which produces trichothecene mycotoxins. A multiplex real-time PCR method using TaqMan probes was developed to simultaneously detect and quantify trichothecene producing Fusarium species and ochratoxin A producing Penicillium and ...
متن کاملVirus hazards from food, water and other contaminated environments.
Numerous viruses of human or animal origin can spread in the environment and infect people via water and food, mostly through ingestion and occasionally through skin contact. These viruses are released into the environment by various routes including water run-offs and aerosols. Furthermore, zoonotic viruses may infect humans exposed to contaminated surface waters. Foodstuffs of animal origin c...
